Our Mission: to inspire and educate the next generation of business leaders
We created The NEED Foundation to inspire and educate the next generation of business leaders. We execute this mission by providing immersive, experiential college campus-based educational programs and ongoing, on-line interactive learning to high school students aged 14-18 years old.
We are responding to business leaders who are concerned whether students will have the skills to compete in the newly emerging economy and whether students are provided with sufficient exposure to business as they formulate their higher education and career aspirations and plans.
We serve young people from all walks of life and focus on equity, diversity and inclusivity, with specific emphasis on educating children of all races and economic backgrounds. The NEED Foundation develops the skill sets students need to be successful no matter their background or career choices.
Who we are: we are business leaders just like you
We are a group of business leaders who established the non-profit NEED Foundation to provide introductory business education to high-school students on a national level. We believe there is an unfortunate lack of business education within the current high-school education system, leaving many students graduating with little to no exposure. Over the last decade, we have delivered our programs to thousands of Oregon students. Recently, we’ve experienced a substantial number of ‘out of state’ and even ‘out of country’ students interested in or attending the programs; this demand caused us to expand the curriculum and to expand the footprint outside of Oregon.
What we do: we volunteer to educate our youth
We recruit high school students, aged 14 – 18 years old, who want to learn about and understand business. We invite them to attend a number of week-long, residential college-campus based programs, taught by prominent local business leaders and experienced business school faculty. The courses provide deep, experiential learning in a safe environment allowing the students to develop many soft skills as well, including: teamwork, business etiquette, mock interviews etc. All this is provided at minimal cost -financial aid is also available to ensure anyone who is interested may attend. We rely extensively on volunteers & alumni to staff the programs, as well as generous donations from individual and corporate donations. The result: we inspire and educate the next generation of business leaders.
