Who We Are
Jeffrey W. Gaus (Jeff) is the co-founder and serves as the President of The NEED Foundation. He also serves as the Board Chair for the Oregon chapter of the Young Entrepreneurs Business Week (YEBW), the organization upon which The NEED Foundation is based. Both of Jeff’s adult sons are alumni of the YEBW programs.
During his tenure, the Oregon chapter has expanded to serve approximately 500 students annually and delivers 15 weeks of programming across 3 college campuses.
Jeff is an entrepreneur and inventor: he is the Founder of the Oregon Blockchain Accelerator, is the retired CEO of Prolifiq Software, served as the Executive Director of Healthcare Education and Government for global technology leader NEC, has co-authored multiple US patents, and has developed several communications protocols and applications.
Jeff is an accomplished public speaker, blogger and mobile computing thought leader and often serves as Conference Chair for industry events both in the USA and Europe.
Jeff is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), with a BS in Business Administration, Marketing. Jeff has attended Executive Technology Leadership programs at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business.
Peter Clarke is a co-founder of The NEED Foundation. He has served as a Board and Company Advisor to the Oregon chapter of the Young Entrepreneurs Business Week (YEBW), the organization upon which The NEED Foundation is based. He is also active in the curriculum design of several of the new courses. Peter is currently a Member of the Teaching Staff at the Ross Business School at the University of Michigan supporting their online education initiatives.
Peter previously was the Senior Director of Operations for Cisco Systems Service Provider business. He joined Cisco shortly after the IPO and held a variety of senior management roles in areas such as Global Alliance, Joint Ventures, Mergers and Acquisitions, Global Customer Advisory Boards, Business Strategy and Operations. Prior to Cisco, Peter was at National Semiconductor where he initially focused on intrapreneuring new businesses and latterly working on the Corporate turnaround under Dr Gil Amelio.
Peter is originally from the UK and is a graduate of London University with a B.Sc in Electronic Engineering. Subsequently he studied for his M.Sc in Digital Systems at Brunel University before moving to the USA. Peter has attended Executive Leadership programs at Stanford University. He is a life long learner and believes in continually expanding his own skills. Both his parent’s were University Professors which may explain why he also enjoys sharing what he has learned with others.
